Director: Mark Waters.
Starring: Parker Posey, Josh Hamilton, Tori Spelling, Freddie Prinze Jr, Genevieve Bujold, Rachael Leigh Cook.
A rather odd (to say the least) family are thrown into turmoil when the eldest son returns with his fiance. The main thrust of the trouble is his incestuous relationship with his twin sister, and her mental problems.
The mother (Bujold) seems to condone the goings on as it helped to calm her daughter down. The daughter (Posey) is obsessed with Jackie Kennedy and has even taken to calling herself Jackie-O after Kennedy’s second married name of Onassis.
It’s an odd film. Not to my taste at all. Its stage roots are clear, and all the film is set in the family’s huge house, making it a rather claustrophobic affair.
Definitely not one to dip in and out of.
