Director: Mark Robson

Starring: Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Genevieve Bujold, Lorne Greene, Richard Rondtree, Victoria Principal, Walter Matthau.

A seventies disaster film that was panned by the critics, but quite liked by the viewing public. Its very formulaic, but not as terrible as worthy scribes would have you believe.

The story follows the adventures of several characters and their struggles to survive the earthquake. The special effects are still impressive considering the technology used, and the cast is impressive. One common complaint is the fact that Ava Gardner plays Lorne Greenes daughter despite only being seven years younger in real life. While that is true, it’s hardly the film’s fault.

I like it, as you can probably guess, and despite it being a compulsory appearance by Bujold, she does well in an extremely limited part.
